Carmaker Volvo is reportedly seeking drivers who commute into west London to take part in Drive Me, its self-driving car trial.
According to the Guardian, Volvo will recruit up to 100 commuters for the London trial of its semi-autonomous vehicles, starting next summer. The company is looking for professionals from different age groups who regularly commute to or from west London.
The paper quoted Anders Eugensson from Volvo as saying: “We focus on people who are normally frustrated when they drive to work in the morning. We really want people who say: ‘I think it’s going to be useful for me to be able to use this time.’”
The company's London trial is set to begin in coming weeks, with engineers behind the wheel of its self-driving car. Another Drive Me trial is already underway, testing self-driving cars in Gothenburg, Sweden.
